Brandworks Technologies, one of India’s fastest-growing electronics manufacturers serving OEMs, ODMs, enterprises, and consumers, continues to strengthen its position as a leader in design-led manufacturing. In an exclusive interaction with Mobility Magazine, Mr. Ishwar Kumhar, CEO of Brandworks Technologies Pvt. Ltd., shared valuable insights into the company’s innovation strategy, expansion roadmap, and vision for India’s electronics future.
Brandworks operates at the intersection of design and manufacturing, specializing in both consumer and enterprise electronics. The company has built a strong infrastructure that supports large-scale manufacturing while maintaining an agile approach to design and development. Its engineering and R&D teams are continuously innovating to build cutting-edge products tailored to Indian consumers and global markets alike.
A key upcoming initiative is the establishment of a large R&D infrastructure in Bangalore, dedicated to developing next-generation electronics solutions. This facility will focus on expanding the company’s capabilities in design, testing, and prototyping. In addition, Brandworks plans to set up a mega manufacturing unit within the next 18 to 24 months, aimed at improving backward integration, enhancing production capacity, and strengthening India’s domestic manufacturing ecosystem.
From its early success in power banks and chargers, Brandworks has steadily diversified its product range. The company is now a prominent player in the home audio segment, having developed advanced home theater systems in partnership with Dolby. It is also venturing into party speakers and exploring deeper integration with chip manufacturers to ensure superior performance and reliability.
Beyond consumer products, Brandworks has entered the financial devices segment, collaborating with NPCI to develop hardware solutions and accompanying software systems such as TMS and DMS. The company is also investing in mobility surveillance solutions under its R&D division and actively exploring opportunities in the EV accessories segment, which holds significant potential in India’s evolving mobility landscape.
Discussing market dynamics, Mr. Kumhar acknowledged the tremendous growth and opportunity within India’s electronics sector. While demand for high-quality, efficient solutions continues to rise, challenges persist, particularly in the middle of the supply chain. He noted that government initiatives like the PLI scheme are helping address these structural challenges and will play a pivotal role in enabling sustainable growth across the ecosystem.
Mr. Kumhar highlighted that AI integration is becoming central to manufacturing and product innovation. Brandworks is already adopting AI-driven systems to improve efficiency, quality control, and production management. Although AI in product development is still emerging due to high hardware costs, Brandworks foresees a major shift within the next few years as technology becomes more accessible and cost-effective.
Concluding the conversation, Mr. Kumhar emphasized the importance of collaboration, R&D, and supply chain development for India’s next generation of innovators. He encouraged young entrepreneurs, including IIT and IIM graduates, to enter the electronics sector and focus on solving large-scale challenges that can shape a self-reliant and globally competitive India.
